Ditto to Beckles, have had that (the Y thing) happen twice this year.

If you plan to fly DL, even if your fare will not necessarily qualify, sign up! Why? If you get re-routed or fly stand-by on a different flight, I've found that you'll often end up with a Y-fare ticket regardless of what your actual ticket is, so you may end up getting the bonus anyway for a leg or two of your trip!

Does this promo apply to Delta Connection flights?

United had a full-fare bonus around 1989, I think they canned it because corporate types found that their employees were booking full-fare tickets to get the bonus and complained mightily.

One other note for those of you in the NE - Delta Shuttle flights between LGA and BOS and DCA which are often booked in "Y" class are inelegible for this promotion.
